In 1976 a group of apparel industrialists from America, Europe and Japan established the International Apparel Federation (IAF) to promote the common business interests of its members and to encourage best practice and support for apparel manufacturers world wide.

Over twenty years later, IAF has grown into the largest representative federation for apparel manufacturers and industry related companies in the world.

The IAF board of Directors meet twice a year, during the IAF World Apparel Convention and at the Annual General Meeting which takes place in London each Autumn.

The President of IAF is elected annually and has to be an apparel industrialist. Each of the member associations has a representative on the various committees and all the members have a seat on the Council of Representatives. Every member association and associate company has the opportunity to participate in the activities of the IAF and to benefit from the information and industry experience that is available through the membership of the Federation.

The IAF Secretariat is in London, UK where the Secretary General and staff manage the activities of the Federation and assist members with business inquires and contacts within the apparel industry.
